Liverpool Out of FA Cup
Liverpool, the defending champions of the FA Cup, have officially exited the competition this Sunday in the fourth round after being defeated by their opponents, Brighton, at the Amex Stadium.
The fans have been captivated by the game's intensity since it began. Liverpool took the lead as Harvey Elliot broke Brighton’s defense and managed to score a goal after around 30 minutes. The ball seemed to be in Liverpool’s court unless Tariq Lamptey spectacularly took a shot from thirty yards away, which was fortunately deflected in by Lewis Dunk 39 minutes into the game.
However, after halftime, both teams kept everyone on their toes with their stalemate performances, as they had their defenses up. Many predicted a replay the following week; however, Kaoru Mitoma scored a win for Brighton in 90+2 minutes, defeating Liverpool and knocking them out of the FA Cup.
Fans were devastated by the unexpected defeat and took to social media to express their outrage at how Jurgen Klopp was to blame. A few of them think it is time for the German manager to part ways with Liverpool. They referred to Klopp as "dumb" and stated that it was his substitutions that resulted in the Cup exit.
During the second half, Klopp used all five of the permitted substitutes in order to achieve a goal. He ordered a triple change soon after the hour mark, substituting James Milner for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Henderson for Naby Keita, and Darwin Nunez for Elliot.
Klopp extended his contract last April; he is all set to remain the manager of Liverpool until the summer of 2026.
